Certain dental procedure causes some patients to be fearful of any pain. You’ll receive a drug that reduces your anxiety and increases relaxation so you don’t feel pain. For a few hours before and after sedation, we’ll ask you to avoid any food or drink.
Prior to the procedure, we’ll administer sedation medication. We will make sure that you are comfortable while the medication takes effect. The medication will reduce any fear or anxiety you may have. We ask that you do not eat a big meal, drink caffeine or grapefruit products before the procedure. This will inhibit the effectiveness of the medication.
You’ll need someone to drive you home and stay with you until the medication has worn off. Absolutely no driving yourself or taking public transport of any kind. Please wear comfortable clothing and a short sleeve t-shirt as we will be placing a blood pressure cuff to monitor you throughout the procedure. Please do not wear contacts or heavy makeup, you will be asked to remove them before the procedure.
